The European Faire; one of the leisurely and relaxing sections of the T-G-I-S!! Festival. Sure there was upbeat music to get people excited, but it almost had fairy-like, soothing quality to it as well. The general attractions ranged from Shakespearean performances Steampunk clothing and crafts. And the more “energetic” affairs, such as jousting demonstrations and “dragon-slaying”, were exclusive to the Medieval Vale area. It was in this section that one could find Berry the fruit bat, along her fellow orphans and caretaker Grammy Sue.

Berry absolutely LOVED the European Faire. It had just the type of atmosphere she was fond of. Harmonious melodies and smells of exquisite delicacies flowing through the air, with beautiful clothing and architecture wherever you chose to direct your eyes. It was enough to make her squeal in sheer delight. Though as a lady of conduct, Berry did her best to keep composure; it just meant that she couldn’t stop smiling the whole time she helped Grammy Sue pass out French pastries that they had made together, all the while wearing a darling little pâtissier outfit.

At the moment, she was handing some éclairs over to a hungry customer. “Thank you for coming. We hope you enjoy.” The dog in front of her licked his lips at the veritable feast he currently held in his arms. “Oh don’t worry, I WILL.” And with that, he walked off and set his bountiful edibles down on a nearby table. Berry giggled in delight. “It is wonderful to see so many people happy with our pastries.” Grammy Sue smiled warmly to the girl. “I agree.” She then gave a concerned look at the dog busily wolfing down his meal. “Though I can hardly help but concerned for that young man’s health.” Berry scanned the display table, significantly depleted of product by their most recent customer. “He certainly was…enthusiastic. I suppose we will need to put out more.”

As if on cue, one of the other kids at her children’s center--a stoat named Toby--carried over a basket filled with macarons. “’Ey Grammy, do we need any more’a these?” Sue nodded. “As a matter of fact we do, thank you Toby. Our last supply was rather…short-lived.” The boy practically did a double take at the case of disappearing baked goods before him. “Holy crepes.” The adult present gave him a light frown. “Now Toby, what have I told you about use of language?” Toby rubbed the back of his head. “A-aw shucks Grammy, it was jus’ word-play.” Sue raised a brow. “While I appreciate your interest in humor, the allusion was in poor taste.” The boy put down his basket. “R-right, sorry Grammy. I’ll try ta be more careful next time.” The elder sheep nodded approvingly. “Thank you, dear.”

Berry carefully placed the macarons on display whilst humming to herself, when she noticed a familiar and friendly sight. Off in the distance was an eight-year old lemur she knew very well, waving to her. She gasped as her wings flapped excitedly, lifting her body up an inch or two. “VIDAL~!!” This sudden outburst startled Grammy Sue and Toby, along with a few passersby, who looked Berry’s way in surprise. This unwanted attention coupled with embarrassment at her actions made the bat lower her face and blush as she waved back, her feet back on the ground. “H-hello Vidal.”

Her primate pal bounded over on all fours, as his two friends Emilo and Eliza followed behind. From there Vidal wasted no time on his objective. “Hey Berry! So we were wonderin’ if you wanna come hang out with us ‘round the festival!” Emilo chuckled a bit. “That is if she’s not too busy helping out here. That IS what you meant, isn’t it?” Vidal grinned nervously at his breach in manners. “Heh, oh yeah.” He looked to Grammy Sue for approval. “So can she come?” Sue laughed slightly herself. “Well alright. The other children are still here to help me right now, and I was planning on taking them around the fair for a break soon anyway.”

Berry beamed and gave her long-time mother figure a hug. “Oh thank you SO very much, Grammy Sue!” She was hugged and patted lovingly on the head in return. “You are very welcome dear. Now you have fun.” Berry nodded, then turned to her friends. “Please excuse me while I go to change my clothes.” Vidal grinned. “Sure, we can wait.” And so Berry skipped off merrily to prepare herself.
